Frequently Asked Questions

What is a traffic exchange?

The members of a traffic exchange are all advertisers. Each person places pages they want others to see into a rotation. As you view other members' pages, you are awarded credits. When these credits are assigned to the pages you want to advertise, then other members see your pages, too.

What levels of membership are there and what are the costs and benefits of each level?

Low Level Members:
  • 3:1 Surf ratio
  • Add up to 5 sites
  • 10% commission on direct referral purchases
  • 15% credit awards on direct referral surfing.
Mid Level Members ($4.97 per month):
  • 2:1 Surf ratio
  • Add up to 25 sites
  • 20% commission on direct referral purchases
  • 25% credit awards on direct referral surfing.
  • 350 credits each month
  • 2,500 banner impressions each month
High Level Members ($8.97 per month):
  • 1:1 Surf ratio
  • Add up to 50 sites
  • 30% commission on direct referral purchases
  • 40% credit awards on direct referral surfing.
  • 750 credits each month

Why Can't I Log into My Account?

Log-in problems are usually associatied with cookies, so be sure your browser is set to accept third-party cookies. You may also need to set your firewall to accept ChicagoTrafficExchange.com.  Refer to your browser or firewall help sections for proper procedures.

Should I Report Broken Member Links? (404 page not found)

No. Generally, these happen when servers are down or webmasters are making changes to their site. Usually the site will be back up within a short period of time.

When I Land on a Page with a Broken Link, Do I Still Receive Credit?

Yes. Just wait until the timer expires and move on to the next page. You account will be credited appropriately.

How Can I Build a Downline?

By advertising your affilialte link, which can be found in the members' area.  However, splash pages that you make yourself or have others make for you are usually more effective because they aren't the generic affiliate page being shown by everyone else.

What kinds of sites are NOT allowed?

No framebreakers, no hate-oriented sites, no warez, no viruses, no adult content.

Do you allow rotators?

Yes, we do allow rotators, but we recommend that ChicagoTrafficExchange members consider using PageSwirl, and this is one of the best rotators for both exchange surfer and owner. If you are not a member, you can join PageSwirl HERE, for free. (Link opens in new window.)
